Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N) – Liberation War Affairs Adviser Farooq-e-Azam announced on Saturday that the government is compiling a list of individuals employed in government and semi-government institutions under the freedom fighter (FF) quota.
The adviser also mentioned that investigations are underway to identify any irregularities in the recruitment process. The decision was made following a courtesy call on the Australian ambassador to Bangladesh on Sunday.
Farooq-e-Azam highlighted that previously, decisions regarding freedom fighters were made by the National Freedom Fighter Council, which was not directly supervised by the ministry. To address this, all ministries, departments, and directorates have been asked to submit a list of those hired under the FF quota.
He emphasized the significance of the Liberation War, stating that it was an unparalleled event in Bangladesh's history. He assured that the list of fraudulent freedom fighters would be reviewed, and appropriate actions would be taken against those found to be involved in deception.
Regarding flood rehabilitation efforts, Farooq-e-Azam noted that the full extent of the damage caused by the recent floods has not yet been determined and will require another week for assessment. He also discussed possible support for flood rehabilitation with the Australian ambassador, who expressed a willingness to consider assistance.
