Oct 16 , V7NJute and Textile Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain has called on South Korea to invest in Bangladesh's jute and textile sectors, emphasizing the growing opportunities for eco-friendly products like jute. During a meeting with South Korean Ambassador Park Young-sik, Hussain highlighted the efforts of the Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) to develop multipurpose jute products and the government's push to replace polythene bags with jute-based "Sonali Bags" to combat environmental pollution.

Hussain described the jute diversification sector as highly promising and invited South Korean investments to further develop it. He noted that the demand for jute products is rising both domestically and internationally due to their environmental benefits.

Ambassador Park praised the government's eco-friendly initiatives and expressed South Korea’s interest in supporting Bangladesh’s jute sector. He also mentioned past efforts by South Korean delegations to explore investment opportunities and reaffirmed his country's interest in future collaboration.

Both officials discussed Bangladesh's shipping industry, with Hussain encouraging Korean investors to explore opportunities in this sector as well. The meeting was attended by ministry officials and other stakeholders.
