The group CEO of AirArabia, the biggest low-cost airline in the Middle East, Adel Abdullah Ali, has stated that his airline plans to extend its operations in Bangladesh, citing it as a crucial route.
"The current trend of Bangladesh's aviation growth gives us a positive feeling that it will continue, we are looking at business opportunities...we have more plan regarding Bangladesh," he told reporters.
The CEO of Air Arabia spoke with the Bangladesh media during his recent visit to Dhaka, which marked the company's first trip to Bangladesh by a group CEO in the company's 20 years of worldwide and 17-year operation in Bangladesh.According to Ali, Bangladesh is a good location for the aviation industry, as seen by Air Arabia's yearly business growth of three to four percent.
Based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Air Arabia was the first low-cost airline in the Middle East and North Africa. It introduced its low-cost business model to the area in 2003 and started operating in Bangladesh in 2007.
"We have successfully conducted business in Bangladesh for the previous seventeen years. "Air Arabia's main route is Bangladesh-UAE," Ali stated.
Presently, Port City Chattogram and the capital Dhaka, Bangladesh, are the two destinations served by Air Arabia's 57 nonstop weekly flights. The CEO of the firm stated that, depending on the circumstances, AirArabia would consider expanding the number of flights to and from Bangladesh.
According to him, more airlines arrive and flight frequency rises when a nation like Bangladesh has rapid economic growth. This creates a win-win scenario for all parties.
With seven strategically placed hubs in the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Egypt, Armenia, and Pakistan, AirArbia now operates 73 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft on more than 190 domestic and international flights across around 50 countries.
With delivery beginning in 2025, the airline now holds an order for 120 Airbus A320 family aircraft, including 736 A320neo, 27 A3212neo-LR, and 210 A321 XLR.Ali said that after obtaining the A321 XLR aircraft, which has a maximum flight time of eight hours, AirArbia will be able to reach every location in Europe in two years.
The CEO claimed that by making air travel accessible to all societal groups and offering affordable tickets, his airline changed the perception of air travel in the Arab world.
According to him, Bangladeshi expatriates in the Middle East used to be able to visit their family in their home country once every three years, but Air Arabia has now made it possible for them to travel there three times in a single year.
According to him, it is one of the most profitable and operationally efficient airlines in the world. In attendance were Abdur Rahim, CEO of MGH, the airline's general sales agent (GSA) in Bangladesh, and Rajesh Nurala, regional general manager of AirArabia.
