Dhaka, Nov 16 (V7N)- Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has warned that individuals involved in money laundering, regardless of whether they are from the public or private sectors, will face strict action in the future.

Speaking at a seminar titled "Policy Dialogue on Financial and Economic Reforms in Bangladesh," held in Mohakhali on Saturday, Dr. Salehuddin stressed that steps are being taken to address economic irregularities and recover laundered funds.

Call for Sustainable Development Strategies
Dr. Salehuddin criticized the current development approach, which he described as overly focused on outward progress. He urged the adoption of sustainable and transparent strategies to ensure long-term economic stability.

Reforms in the Revenue Sector
On revenue sector reforms, the adviser highlighted the importance of separating policy formulation from implementation. "Many institutions are on the verge of collapse due to poorly conceived projects undertaken without feasibility studies. However, multilateral and bilateral partners have pledged their support for meaningful reforms," he said.

He cautioned that economic instability might result in reduced assistance from foreign development partners if issues are not addressed.

Commitment to Combat Money Laundering
Dr. Salehuddin reiterated the government’s commitment to curbing money laundering. "Efforts to recover laundered money are already underway. In the future, anyone involved in such activities will be held accountable, whether they are in the private or public domain," he assured.
