Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — The Energy Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has announced a reduction in the prices of diesel and kerosene by 1 taka per litre, effective from January 1, 2025. However, the prices of petrol and octane will remain unchanged.

In a notification issued on Tuesday, the ministry stated that the decision was made to ensure the availability of fuel at more affordable prices in January, reflecting changes in global fuel prices.

The new prices set diesel and kerosene at 104 taka per litre, down from the previous 105 taka. Meanwhile, octane remains priced at 125 taka per litre, and petrol at 121 taka per litre.

This adjustment follows the government's policy of monthly fuel price reviews to align domestic prices with fluctuations in the global market.

The new rates will come into effect starting Wednesday, providing slight relief for consumers relying on diesel and kerosene while maintaining stability for petrol and octane users.
