The price of 22-carat gold surged to Tk1,12,908 per bhori, marking the highest recorded rate in Bangladesh's history.

Attributing the increase to fluctuations in the global market, the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) adjusted the gold price. This decision followed a meeting of Bajus' standing committee on pricing and price monitoring, as announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Effective from Thursday, the new prices reflect a significant rise across various gold categories. For instance, a 21-carat gold bar now costs Tk1,07,776, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk92,379.

Comparatively, the previous price for 22-carat gold ornaments stood at Tk1.1 lakh.

Notably, in July of the previous year, gold prices in Bangladesh surpassed the Tk1,00,000-mark for the first time.

The continuous rise in gold prices over the past year can be attributed to fluctuations in the international market and volatility in domestic supply.
