Bangladesh Bank announces the release of new notes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, starting March 31, with a deadline for exchanges set till April 9, except on weekends and public holidays. The central bank facilitates the exchange process through its branches and selected commercial banks.

In preparation for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, Bangladesh Bank has revealed plans to introduce new notes into circulation, commencing March 31.

This initiative aims to facilitate smoother transactions during the festive period. Citizens will have until April 9 to exchange old notes for new ones, with exceptions for weekends and public holidays.

The central bank will oversee the exchange process through its branch network. Additionally, a special arrangement has been made with 80 branches of various commercial banks in Dhaka, Gazipur, and Narayanganj for the exchange of new notes in denominations of Tk5, Tk10, Tk20, Tk50, and Tk100. Notably, individuals are restricted to a single exchange transaction, as stipulated by the central bank. This move is expected to streamline currency circulation and ensure financial convenience for citizens during the Eid festivities.
