Prices of chicken have surged due to increases in the cost of chicken feed and broiler chicks, according to traders in the sector. Beef prices ranged from Tk 750 to 780 per kg, showing an increase of Tk 30 per kg compared to previous days. Similarly, mutton and goat meat prices rose by Tk 50 per kg, selling at Tk 1000 to 1180 per kg. Hilsha fish weighing approximately 450 grams were priced at Tk 650 per kg, while larger Hilsha weighing over 1.0 kg were selling at Tk 1800 to 2000 per kg. Other fish prices varied, with small fishes priced between Tk 300 to 550 per kg and river Pangas at Tk 700 per kg.
Vegetable prices remained stable but higher compared to previous years, attributed to inflation. Eggplant, okra, drumsticks, string beans, and bitter gourd were priced between Tk 50 to 60 per kg. Tomatoes saw an increase in prices as the season was ending, with good quality tomatoes priced between Tk 60 to 70 per kg.
Broiler and Sonali chicken prices increased by Tk 10-30 per kg within a week. Other vegetables like brinjal, bottle gourd, ash gourd, and cauliflower were priced between Tk 40 to 60 per kg. Onions ranged from Tk 70 to 80 per kg, garlic from Tk 180 to 250, and ginger from Tk 200 to 280 per kg. Watermelon prices slightly increased, selling at Tk 120 to 350 per piece, while pineapple was priced at Tk 30 to 45 per piece. Guava was selling at Tk 50 to 80 per kg, ripe papaya at Tk 100 to 160 per kg, and various fruits like apple, Malta, orange, and Nashi pear were sold between Tk 260 to 340 per kg in the capital.
