FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam emphasized the significant potential for trade and business between Bangladesh and Turkey, citing their strategic geographic positions as gateways between Europe and South and Southeast Asia. Addressing a delegation from the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) and the Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council, he highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, which have evolved into a robust trade and investment partnership.

Alam noted that Bangladesh's exports to Turkey reached US$ 495.81 million in the fiscal year 2022-23, with imports from Turkey totaling US$ 380.3 million. He highlighted the presence of 15-20 large Turkish companies operating directly in Bangladesh, contributing significantly to job creation and expertise exchange in various sectors such as garments, textiles, chemicals, engineering, construction, and energy.

Appreciating the efforts of the Bangladeshi government to bolster economic growth, Alam outlined favorable investment policies and incentives, including tax exemptions and access to working capital. He expressed optimism about future cooperation between the two countries, suggesting areas such as pharmaceuticals, tourism, jute, and technology for potential Turkish investments.

Alam called for the activation of trade promotional activities and proposed collaboration in developing high-tech products and tourism infrastructure. The visiting delegation, led by Hidayet Onur Ozden, Chairperson of the Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council, echoed Alam's sentiments, emphasizing the growing trade and business ties between the two nations.

Ambassador of Turkey to Bangladesh Ramis Sen praised Bangladesh's recent infrastructural development and invited Bangladeshi business leaders to visit Turkey in the coming months. FBCCI Senior Vice-president Md. Amin Helaly highlighted Bangladesh's immense investment potential for Turkish investors, emphasizing the country's projected position as the ninth-largest consumer market in the world by 2030.

The meeting, attended by FBCCI Vice-president Dr. Joshoda Jibon Deb Nath, directors, secretary-general, distinguished members of the delegation from DEIK and Turkey-Bangladesh Business Council, and business dignitaries from various sectors of Bangladesh, aimed to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey.
