A delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), headed by Major General SM Kamrul Hassan and accompanied by two senior directing staff of the rank of Major General, paid a visit to the BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka today.

The delegation comprised 120 members, including senior officers from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Service, as well as senior military officers from various countries including Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Kuwait, Kenya, China, South Sudan, Tanzania, Nepal, Jordan, Mali, Oman, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Zambia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

BGMEA President S. M. Mannan (Kochi) extended a warm welcome to the NDC delegation upon their arrival at the BGMEA Complex. Alongside him, BGMEA Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President (Finance) Md. Nasir Uddin, Vice President Abdullah Hill Rakib, and Directors Haroon Ar Rashid, Shams Mahmud, Abrar Hossain Sayem, Nusrat Bari Asha, Md. Mohiuddin Rubel, and Md. Rezaul Alam (Miru) were present during the visit.

The purpose of the NDC delegation's visit was to gain insights into Bangladesh's garment industry and learn about BGMEA's endeavors towards its development. BGMEA President S. M. Mannan (Kochi) provided a comprehensive briefing to the delegation, highlighting the significant contributions of the garment industry to Bangladesh's socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, and women empowerment.

During the meeting, BGMEA leaders discussed the industry's vision and shared insights into initiatives undertaken for sustainable development. Key industry priorities such as product diversification, technological advancement, and skill development to ensure competitiveness were also emphasized.

The NDC delegation commended the progress of Bangladesh's garment industry, particularly appreciating the sector's eco-friendly industrialization efforts. Major General SM Kamrul Hassan lauded BGMEA's initiatives for industry development and expressed confidence in achieving the goal of $100 billion in garment exports by 2030.

BGMEA President urged the NDC delegation members to advocate internationally for the success stories of Bangladesh's garment industry from their respective positions. Prior to their visit to the BGMEA Complex, the NDC delegation toured 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. in Savar.
