As of June 12, 2024, the number of LEED-certified ready-made garment (RMG) factories in Bangladesh has reached 220, with two additional factories earning this recognition. In the past five months, 12 factories have been certified, bringing the total from 218 as of May.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification system, emphasizing environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. This certification highlights the garment sector's commitment to sustainable and green initiatives, as noted by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Director Mohiuddin Rubel.

Of the 220 certified factories, the breakdown is as follows:
- 84 factories have achieved the highest platinum rating
- 122 have earned gold
- 10 have received silver
- 4 are certified at the basic level

The newly certified factories include Cotton Club & Cotton Clout-Building 1 in Kashimpur, Gazipur, and Graphics Textiles Limited in Dhamrai, Dhaka, both earning gold certification with scores of 71 and 78, respectively.

Bangladesh's consistent achievements in this area have established the country as a global leader in the sustainable fashion movement. Remarkably, 56 of the 100 LEED-certified green factories worldwide are located in Bangladesh, including 9 of the top 10 and 18 of the top 20 globally, according to BGMEA data.

The geographic distribution of these certifications within Bangladesh reflects the RMG industry's extensive commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
