Habiganj, July 3 (V7N) — Police in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district conducted a special anti-narcotics operation based on confidential intelligence and seized 50 kilograms of cannabis, arresting three alleged drug traffickers.
 
The raid was carried out at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Thursday in front of the residence of Haji Rupu Mia, located in the Paschim Madhabpur area of Madhabpur Municipality.
 
The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahid Ullah of Madhabpur Police Station. He was joined by Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Kabir Hossain, Sub-Inspectors (Unarmed) Nazmul Hasan and Md. Shahanur Islam, along with Assistant Sub-Inspectors (Unarmed) Md. Lalon Fakir and Md. Atikur Rahman, supported by a specially trained police unit.
 
The individuals arrested have been identified as:
 
Md. Borhan Uddin (20), Bahar Uddin (25) — Both sons of the late Gias Uddin, residents of Joalbhanga village, Ward No. 5, Andiura Union, Madhabpur, Habiganj. Md. Mostafa (30) — Son of Abdur Rashid, resident of Rasulpur village, Sarail Upazila, Brahmanbaria.
 
During the operation, police recovered approximately 50 kilograms of cannabis from the suspects.
 
According to police sources, preparations are underway to file a regular case against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act.
 
OC Mohammad Shahid Ullah stated that the anti-drug campaign will continue with zero tolerance. “We are committed to eradicating drugs from society and will maintain strict enforcement efforts,” he said.
 
This operation is part of a broader initiative by law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh to combat the growing threat of narcotics distribution and abuse.
