Bangladesh has received $1.15 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the third tranche of a $4.7 billion loan package. This disbursement follows the approval by the IMF executive board on June 24, 2024.

Md. Mezbaul Haque, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank (BB), mentioned that in addition to the IMF funds, Bangladesh also received approximately $900 million from other sources including Korea, IBRD (World Bank), and IDB. This inflow contributes to increasing Bangladesh's gross reserves, which are expected to reach around $26 billion pending final accounting.

The IMF loan package, initiated with the approval of the first tranche on January 30, 2023, involves disbursements spread over seven installments until 2026. Bangladesh received the first installment of $447.8 million shortly thereafter, on February 2, 2023.
