Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N): The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw its market capitalization grow by Tk 6,749 crore last week, even though the prices of numerous shares and units experienced declines.

According to recent financial data, the DSE's market capitalization was Tk 6,92,831 crore at the opening of trading on Sunday, marking the start of the week. By the close of the final trading session, this figure had risen to Tk 6,99,581 crore, reflecting a Tk 6,749 crore increase over the week.

Despite the drop in share prices, the DSE's primary index, DSEX, gained 104 points, ending the week at 5,804 points. The DSE Shariah index also rose by 22 points, reaching 1,241, while the DSE-30 index climbed 34 points to 2,124.

Throughout the week, 397 firms participated in share and unit trading. Among them, 293 companies saw their share and unit prices increase, 86 experienced declines, and 18 remained unchanged.
