Dhaka, Sep 30 (V7N): Job seekers gathered in front of the chief advisor's office and residence today, demanding an increase in the age limit for government jobs from 30 to 35 years.

The demonstration began earlier in Shahbagh, near the National Museum, where students from various educational institutions, along with men and women of different ages, participated. The protesters argued that several factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic, political unrest, and academic session delays, had caused many individuals to surpass the current age limit before completing their studies and applying for government jobs.

As frustration grew, they called for the maximum age limit to be extended to 35 years. Around 1:30pm, demonstrators broke through a police barricade in Shahbagh, leading to clashes. In response, law enforcement fired tear gas to disperse the crowd near the chief advisor's State Guesthouse Jamuna residence.

At the time of reporting, protesters remained on the scene, continuing their demands.
