Dhaka, Nov 17 (V7N)- Job seekers staged a sit-in protest in front of the Petrobangla headquarters in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, demanding the immediate resumption of the postponed oral examinations for recruitment. Hundreds of protesters have blocked the main gate of the Petrobangla office since 11 a.m. on Sunday, preventing employees from entering or leaving the building.
The protesters alleged that the oral examination for 17 categories of positions in the revenue department of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited, a Petrobangla subsidiary, has been delayed multiple times under various pretexts. They demanded that the oral examination process be expedited and the final results published promptly.
"We will not back down from our sit-in protest until our one-point demand is fulfilled," said one of the protesters. "This indefinite protest will continue until our demands are met."
Petrobangla officials are yet to provide a response to the protesters’ concerns. The demonstration has caused significant disruption to daily operations, with many employees stranded inside the building.
The job seekers’ demand underscores the frustration faced by many awaiting government employment opportunities, particularly in light of recurring delays in recruitment processes. The protesters have urged authorities to take immediate action to address the situation.
