Police, BGB, and 12 firefighting units are assisting in putting out the fire

Three hours after it started, a large fire that tore through a restaurant on Bailey Road in the capital city of Dhaka on Thursday night was contained.

According to Shahjadi Sultana, the duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters control room, the fire was brought under control at 11:50 p.m., three hours after it started, by firemen working with police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

She said that as of 12:30 am, the firemen had saved 65 lives inside the restaurant.

Anwarul Islam, the warehouse inspector for FSCD, had earlier reported that the fire started at 8:50 p.m. in the "Kacchi Bhai Restaurant."

Eight firefighter units from other stations hurried to the scene based on intelligence, he added.

Afterward, four additional units were added, and police and BGB personnel offered their assistance in putting out the fire.

The FSCD official stated that facts regarding this problem would be disclosed later, adding that the origin of the fire could not be discovered immediately.
