Dhaka, May 30 (V7N) – The Gana Odhikar Parishad held a protest rally in front of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) headquarters in Gulshan on Thursday morning, demanding the removal and arrest of DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz over alleged links with a banned militant organization.

Despite continuous rain caused by a depression in the Bay of Bengal, leaders and activists of the party gathered in large numbers to stage the demonstration. The protestors accused Mohammad Ejaz of having affiliations with extremist groups and called for immediate government action to prevent the resurgence of radicalism and militancy in the country.

During the rally, the Gana Odhikar Parishad also reiterated its commitment to democratic movements and referenced the historical July Movement, drawing attention to what they called systemic discrimination and ongoing corruption in public administration.

The protestors further demanded the removal of two student advisors, although their identities were not disclosed during the demonstration.

This protest coincided with a separate program by supporters of BNP leader Ishraq Hossain, who were also staging a protest in front of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Nagar Bhaban, intensifying the day’s political activity across both city corporation zones.
