Dhaka, Jun 02 (V7N) — With just one week remaining before Qurbani, the cattle markets in the capital remain surprisingly sparse. Despite all preparations being completed, trading activities have yet to pick up, and traffic around the markets is noticeably light.
On Monday (June 2), visits to several cattle markets across Dhaka revealed that traders are still arriving with truckloads of cattle from different parts of the country, hoping to capitalize on the upcoming demand.
Many traders expressed optimism, saying that if the Indian cattle market remains less competitive this year, they expect to secure better prices. While some difficulties have been reported regarding cattle management due to unfavorable weather conditions, the traders voiced no major complaints.
However, most cattle dealers stressed that selling at low prices is unlikely this year because of the high cost of raising livestock, particularly due to the expensive animal feed. They also noted that with Qurbani still a week away, many buyers visiting the markets are currently there only to survey prices and options rather than to make immediate purchases.
As the Eid approaches, the market activity is expected to intensify, with both buyers and sellers preparing for the peak trading days.
