Dhaka, Dec 26 (V7N)- Members of Inqilab Manch blocked the Shahbagh intersection on Friday, demanding justice for the murder of their convener Sharif Osman Hadi, causing significant traffic disruption in the area.

After Friday prayers, protesters took out a procession from the Dhaka University Central Mosque and staged a sit-in at the intersection, raising slogans calling for action against Hadi’s killers.

Speaking to reporters, Inqilab Manch member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said, “We will remain at Shahbagh until we get a specific explanation about the killers of Sharif Osman Hadi. Inqilab Manch cannot be stopped by killing Hadi. This fight will continue.”

Sharif Osman Hadi was critically injured in a shooting on December 12 and was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital before being admitted to Evercare Hospital at his family’s request. On December 15, he was flown to Singapore via air ambulance for advanced treatment. Hadi passed away on December 18 at Singapore General Hospital, and his body returned to Bangladesh on the night of December 19.

Following an autopsy on December 20, Hadi was laid to rest beside the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The protest at Shahbagh highlights continued public demand for justice in Hadi’s murder, while traffic authorities have warned motorists to use alternate routes due to the blockade.
