In response to the derailment of two trains at Joydebpur railway junction in Gazipur, two platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been dispatched to aid in the rescue efforts.

According to a statement from Shariful Islam, the public relations officer of the BGB headquarters in Dhaka, the paramilitary teams, under the command of BGB-63, will support rescue operations and maintain law and order at the accident site.

The incident occurred when a Dhaka-bound Tangail commuter train collided with a Gazipur-bound freight train, reportedly due to a signalman error at the south end of the railway junction. The collision caused multiple compartments of both trains to derail, disrupting rail connections to Dhaka and other regions.

As a result of the accident, four individuals, including the locomotive engineer of the commuter train, sustained injuries.
