Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast up to three low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal this November, with a possibility of one intensifying into a depression or cyclone. In its monthly weather outlook, BMD also anticipates normal rainfall levels across the country for the month.
The forecast indicates a gradual decline in both day and night temperatures, while light to moderate fog may appear nationwide during the early mornings, with some river basins experiencing moderate to dense fog. The country’s main rivers are expected to maintain regular flow levels, and daily sunshine could range between 6.5 and 8.5 hours.
October saw an average of 207 mm of rainfall countrywide, exceeding the normal rate of 160 mm. Rainfall varied by region, with below-average precipitation in Rangpur, normal levels in Chattogram and Sylhet, and above-normal levels in other divisions. Last month also recorded three low-pressure systems on October 4, 14, and 21, with the latter developing into Cyclone Dana, which struck India’s Odisha coast on October 25.
The monsoon season concluded on October 14, following an active period from October 1-14 that brought heavy rain across many areas. The highest single-day rainfall was 250 mm in Chandpur on October 4, while the highest temperature was recorded at 36.3 degrees Celsius in Mongla on October 1. Monthly temperatures averaged 1.2 degrees above normal, with daily highs and lows exceeding typical levels by 0.9 and 1.4 degrees, respectively.
