Dhaka, Jan24 (V7N) – The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop in temperatures across the country starting Saturday night. In a message issued Friday, the department stated that the night temperatures may decrease by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain stable.
Current Temperature Trends
On Friday, the country’s lowest temperature was recorded in Baghabari at 9.6 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Tentulia at 10 degrees Celsius. The cold wave has intensified over the past few days, with temperatures dropping sharply in many regions.
The northern districts, including Panchagarh, Kurigram, and Naogaon, are experiencing the most severe cold. In Dhaka, the temperature has also dipped noticeably, with the lowest recorded at 13.4 degrees Celsius on Friday. The city’s daytime high on Thursday was 23 degrees Celsius.
Impact of Dense Fog
The Meteorological Department has also forecast moderate to dense fog from midnight to morning in various parts of the country. In some areas, the fog may persist until noon. This could disrupt air traffic, inland river transport, and road communication, posing challenges for travel and transportation.
Ongoing Cold Wave
The recent cold wave has caused discomfort across Bangladesh, with many regions seeing a sharp decline in temperature compared to previous days. In some areas, the mercury has dropped by as much as three degrees within 24 hours, increasing hardship for residents, particularly in rural and northern parts of the country.
Residents are advised to prepare for colder nights ahead and exercise caution while traveling due to potential disruptions caused by dense fog.
