Moulvibazar, Feb 08 (V7N) – A bone-chilling winter is sweeping across Bangladesh as a gentle cold wave grips various regions of the country. Srimangal, in Moulvibazar district, recorded the lowest temperature of the day at 8.5 degrees Celsius at 9 AM on Saturday.

Over the past week, the morning temperatures in the district have been fluctuating between 16 and 14 degrees Celsius. However, the sudden drop to single digits has intensified the cold, causing discomfort for many residents, especially low-income groups.

The abrupt onset of colder weather has particularly affected millions of tea garden workers and daily wage earners in the region, who rely on outdoor labor for their livelihoods. Despite the chilly conditions, the appearance of sunshine since morning has provided some much-needed relief to those braving the cold to continue their work.

Authorities have advised people, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against the cold to avoid health issues such as respiratory illnesses, which tend to rise during cold spells. Relief measures, including the distribution of warm clothing, are expected to be initiated in the most affected areas.
