Dhaka, Apr 03 (V7N) – Temperatures across Bangladesh are expected to rise throughout April, with two to four mild or moderate heatwaves and one to two severe heatwaves likely to affect different parts of the country. The maximum temperature could reach 42 degrees Celsius, according to a forecast by the Meteorological Department released on Thursday (April 3).
Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman stated that one to two low-pressure systems may develop in the Bay of Bengal this month, with at least one potentially intensifying into a depression or cyclone.
The forecast also indicates that rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur in various regions between April 10-12. While this may temporarily reduce temperatures, they are expected to rise again after the brief relief.
At present, a mild heatwave is sweeping across Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Saidpur, and Chuadanga districts. Daytime temperatures are also gradually increasing in Dhaka and other parts of the country.
Authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions against extreme heat, including staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun.
