Panchagarh, Nov 12 (V7N) — The intensity of winter is increasing in the northern region as the temperature in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh dropped to 12.8 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. today (Wednesday), with air humidity at 99 percent.

The temperature has fallen by 1.7 degrees since Tuesday morning, when it was 14.5°C. According to Jitendra Nath Roy, officer-in-charge of the Tentulia Meteorological Office, the mercury has been steadily declining and may drop further by the end of November.

Cold winds and thick fog have gripped the district, prompting residents to reach for warm clothes and blankets. Sales of winter garments, coats, and bedding have surged in local markets, while traditional pitha-puli stalls are drawing crowds across the region.

However, the falling temperature has also triggered a rise in cold-related illnesses, particularly among children and the elderly. Local hospitals have reported an increase in patient numbers in recent days.
