Gopalganj, Dec 31 (V7N)- Since the beginning of Paush, cold conditions have been gradually intensifying across the country. In recent days, severe cold has gripped the northern and south-western regions, disrupting normal life. Gopalganj has been particularly affected, with a biting cold wind sweeping through the district.

On Wednesday (December 31), the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Gopalganj at 7.5 degrees Celsius, according to local weather officials.

Temperatures continue to fall in various regions due to persistent cold winds. Although the sun appears briefly at times, it remains faint, while dense fog blankets the surroundings. The combination of bitter cold winds and thick fog has significantly affected daily activities and public movement.

Due to the intense cold, people are avoiding going outside unless absolutely necessary. However, the situation has become increasingly difficult for day laborers, low-income workers, and homeless people, who are forced to remain outdoors despite the harsh conditions.

Meanwhile, cold-related illnesses are on the rise, particularly among children and the elderly. Hospitals and clinics are reporting an increase in patients suffering from respiratory infections, fever, and cold-related complications.

Local residents have called for increased distribution of warm clothing and necessary support for vulnerable communities as the cold wave continues.
