Dhaka, Jan 02 (V7N) – Winter has intensified in the capital as dense fog and chilly winds disrupted normal life early Friday morning. Since the late hours of Thursday night, Dhaka city has remained blanketed in thick fog, significantly affecting visibility and public movement.
From the early hours of Friday (January 2), dense fog was observed across different areas of the capital, causing disruptions to road traffic. Due to poor visibility, vehicles were seen moving slowly with headlights switched on.
As it was a weekly holiday, the number of people on the streets was relatively low. However, those who ventured outdoors for essential purposes suffered greatly. Even after wearing multiple layers of warm clothing, many struggled to cope with the biting cold and chilling wind.
According to the weather forecast, dry weather with temporarily partly cloudy skies is expected across the country today. Moderate to dense fog may occur in many areas from midnight to morning and could persist until noon in some places.
The Meteorological Department has warned that dense fog may temporarily disrupt air traffic, inland waterways, and road communications. Meanwhile, both day and night temperatures may rise slightly.
