The upcoming NAP (National Adaptation Plan) Expo 2024 in Bangladesh, scheduled for April 22-25 at Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Center, will spotlight the nation's strides in combatting climate change impacts, announced Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury today. The event, inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on April 22, aims to serve as a global platform for exchanging insights on climate adaptation strategies, emphasizing mutual benefits and collaboration.

Minister Chowdhury highlighted innovative adaptation measures that will be showcased at the expo, including rainwater harvesting, solar-powered water extraction in hilly regions, climate-resilient agriculture, and infrastructure development such as cyclone shelters and roadworks. Additionally, the event will celebrate Bangladesh's rich history, culture, and heritage.

Participating entities will include the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, various governmental bodies, and international organizations like UNFCCC, GCF, UNDP, IOM, GCA, as well as NGOs such as BRAC and WINROCK, demonstrating a concerted effort in climate adaptation.

The NAP Expo 2024, with representatives from 114 countries, organized in collaboration with UNFCCC and managed by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group, signifies a significant advancement in global climate resilience efforts.

Key officials present at the preparatory meeting included Additional Secretaries Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Tapan Kumar Biswas, Dr. Fahmida Khanam, and Director General of the Environment Directorate, Dr. Abdul Hamid, underscoring the high-level engagement and commitment to the success of the event.
