A scorching heat wave has gripped various districts of Bangladesh, with daytime temperatures set to soar across the country, according to the latest forecast from the Meteorological Office.
Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid from the Department of Meteorology issued a warning on Friday, highlighting the intensifying heat wave expected to persist in several regions. The forecast indicated the presence of a mild to moderate heat wave affecting Barisal division, including Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chittagong, Rangamati, Feni, Bandarban, and Moulvibazar districts.
The morning temperatures soared to a high of 40 degrees Celsius, with Dinajpur recording the lowest temperature at 18.6 degrees Celsius. In Dhaka, the maximum temperature reached 36 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 26.5 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for the next 72 hours, starting from 9 am today, highlighted the presence of an extension of the western low pressure system over West Bengal and neighboring areas, while a seasonal normal low pressure system was observed over the South Bay of Bengal.
Despite the oppressive heat, the forecast indicated no likelihood of rainfall across the country for the next three days. Instead, the weather is expected to remain predominantly dry, with partly cloudy skies. Although daytime temperatures may experience a slight increase during the initial two days, nighttime temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable.
As the heat wave persists, authorities urge citizens to take precautionary measures to stay safe and hydrated, particularly during outdoor activities, while remaining vigilant for any updates or advisories from the Meteorological Office.
