A mild to moderate heatwave is currently affecting eight divisions across Bangladesh, according to a forecast from the meteorological office. The affected divisions include Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet, and this heatwave is expected to persist. The weather is predicted to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies throughout the country.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature recorded in the country was 39.0 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur, while the minimum temperature today was 23.1 degrees Celsius in Tetulia. The maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours until 6 AM today was recorded at 3 millimeters in Tetulia.

A trough of westerly low-pressure lies over West Bengal to the northwest Bay of Bengal. Day and night temperatures are expected to rise slightly across the country. The increase in moisture incursion may contribute to continued discomfort due to the heatwave.

In the capital, Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 06:35 PM today and rise at 05:15 AM tomorrow.
