With few hours of sunshine and rainy prospects, the capital's citizens have been shivering in the extreme cold these past few days.

The winter evening of Wednesday, January 24, has been made even colder by a drizzle.

Around 5:30 p.m., it began to pour, instantly making life miserable for those making their way home from work. The drizzle also caused havoc with the traffic.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reports that a minor cold wave is moving over the divisions of Rangpur and Rajshahi. The district of Kishoregonj and Chuadanga may see some relief from the cold wave as the temperature increases slightly.

In the interim, the problem of poor vision brought on by thick fog won't get any better. In select locations, moderate to thick fog may appear from midnight to the morning and last until noon. According to the BMD, poor visibility could have an impact on road communication, inland river transportation, and air navigation. The scenario is expected to last for the next 72 hours, ending on January 26.

Tetulia reported the lowest temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while Teknaf recorded the maximum temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius today.
