Dhaka experienced much-needed rainfall in various areas, bringing a sense of cool relief after a prolonged and intense heatwave. Reports of rain began coming in around 5 PM on Thursday, affecting multiple areas across the capital, including Old Dhaka's Sadarghat, Islampur, Moghbazar, Khilgaon, Badda, Mirpur, and Sutrapur.

Earlier in the afternoon, the sky over the capital had been overcast, with occasional flashes of lightning, signaling the impending rain.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicted light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind and moderately heavy to heavy falls at different places over the country in the next 24 hours starting from 9 AM today. According to the weather bulletin issued this morning, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka division; and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.

The ongoing mild heat wave, sweeping over the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Kushtia, may continue. The day temperature may fall slightly over the northern part and remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country, while the night temperature is expected to remain nearly unchanged.

On Wednesday, the country's maximum temperature was recorded at 38.0 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while today's minimum temperature was recorded at 22.9 degrees Celsius in Thakurgaon. In the last 24 hours commencing at 6 AM today, rainfall was recorded at 102 mm in Panchagarh.
