Dhaka, Feb 03 (V7N) — A mild earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the southwestern part of Bangladesh early Tuesday morning.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the tremor was felt at 4:36 am. The epicenter was located in the Kalaroa area of Satkhira district, at a depth of 150 kilometers beneath the surface.

Similar information was also confirmed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) and India’s National Center for Seismology (NCS).

As the earthquake was moderate in intensity and occurred deep underground, no casualties or damage were reported.

In recent months, small to medium tremors have been felt in various parts of the country, raising concerns among geological experts about increased seismic activity in the region.
