Dhaka, Sep 13 (V7N) – A mild heatwave is currently affecting Mymensingh, Sylhet, and several other districts, including Dhaka, Tangail, and Rajshahi.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the heatwave is expected to ease in some regions within the next 24 hours, beginning at 9 am on Friday. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are predicted across most parts of the country, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions. Certain areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

A well-marked low-pressure system has developed over southeastern Bangladesh and the Northeast Bay, which is anticipated to intensify and shift northwestward. Meanwhile, a land depression over Uttar Pradesh is gradually weakening.

Temperatures across the country are expected to drop slightly, with Thursday’s highest temperature recorded at 37.4°C in Mymensingh and the lowest at 23.8°C in Bandarban. Cox’s Bazar received the heaviest rainfall over the past 24 hours, with 378mm recorded.
