Dhaka, Oct 14 (V7N): The Ministry of Law has given the green light to reconstitute the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), with Justice Golam Mortuza Majumdar appointed as its head.

This decision was disclosed by Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul during a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday evening.

Dr. Nazrul announced that judicial proceedings are expected to begin shortly, with the newly formed three-member tribunal also comprising Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury. He further mentioned that the government is prepared to extend support for the reactivation of International Crimes Tribunal-2 if needed.

“This is a significant milestone in advancing the judicial process,” Dr. Nazrul stated, expressing confidence that the tribunal will commence operations soon. He also confirmed that the genocide trial related to the July Revolution will be prioritized by the International Crimes Tribunal.
