Dhaka, Nov 20 (V7N)- The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court has granted a five-day remand for former Law Minister Anisul Haque in connection with the murder case of Fazlul Karim, filed at Uttara Purba Police Station. The order was issued on Wednesday following a request by law enforcement authorities.

In the morning, Anisul Haque was presented before the court after being brought from jail. The investigating officer, Detective Branch (DB) Police Inspector Md. Mahmudur Rahman, sought a 10-day remand to interrogate him regarding the case.

The defense filed a petition for bail and the cancellation of the remand, which was strongly opposed by the state. After reviewing the arguments, the court granted a five-day remand for further investigation.

Fazlul Karim, a participant in the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5, sustained gunshot injuries during a protest. He was rushed to Kuwait Friendship Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His brother subsequently filed a murder case at Uttara Purba Police Station, naming 40 individuals as suspects.

Anisul Haque's remand follows a series of recent arrests tied to multiple cases. Prominent figures, including Dipu Moni, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Salman F Rahman, and Hasanul Haque Inu, have also been apprehended in cases lodged by various police stations, including Mohammadpur, Badda, Paltan, Mirpur, and Uttara West.

The DB police will proceed with questioning Anisul Haque during the remand period to uncover more details about his alleged involvement in the Fazlul Karim case. Meanwhile, legal proceedings for the other high-profile detainees are expected to follow in the coming days.

This development has intensified political and legal discourse across the nation as the investigations unfold.
