Chittagong, Dec 03 (V7N) — The bail hearing for Sanatan Jagran Manch leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in a sedition case has been postponed to January 2, 2025. The postponement occurred as the lawyer representing the accused was absent during Tuesday’s proceedings. The state requested a rescheduling, which was approved by the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Saiful Islam around 12:15 p.m.

Assistant Public Prosecutor (PP) Enamul Haque explained that the absence of Chinmoy Das’s lawyer resulted in the hearing being deferred. He added that as the case is pending in the Sessions Judge’s Court, there is no option for the accused to seek bail in either the Magistrate’s Court or the High Court until the hearing is conducted.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, the spokesperson of the Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jot, was arrested on November 25 in Dhaka on charges of sedition. The following day, he was presented before a Chittagong court, where his bail was denied, and he was sent to jail.

The case has garnered significant attention, and the next hearing on January 2 will be closely watched.
