Dhaka, Jan 29 (V7N) — The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has stayed the High Court's order suspending the recruitment of 3,500 Junior Instructors (Tech) and Physical Education Instructors (Grade 10) in polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges under the Directorate of Technical Education. The stay will remain in effect for four weeks, allowing the recruitment process to proceed without legal obstruction.

A bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, issued the order on Wednesday. The court also directed that the rule issued regarding the recruitment be resolved within six weeks. Additionally, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been instructed to submit a report to the High Court within three weeks concerning allegations of fraud in the recruitment examination.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal represented the petitioners in court, assisted by Advocate Maqsud Ullah, while Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman argued on behalf of the state.

The controversy began when a High Court bench led by Justice Akram Hossain Chowdhury ordered the suspension of the recruitment on January 27 and issued a rule questioning the legality of the appointments. The Public Service Commission (PSC) had published the final results on November 26, recommending 3,500 candidates for recruitment across 44 categories.

Following the announcement, 18 unsuccessful candidates filed a writ petition in the High Court, alleging fraud in the recruitment process, including question leaks orchestrated by a group known as the "Abed Ali group." The recruitment process was scheduled to conclude with candidate appointments on Wednesday.

With the Appellate Division's latest decision, the recruitment process can now proceed, pending further legal proceedings.
