The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, February 12, at the Supari Bagan Walton Mor market in the municipal area. The accused, Nur and Anwar, both residents of the Balluk Kandi area, were caught selling meat from a dead cow.
Tangail, Feb 13 (V7N) – A mobile court in Tangail has sentenced a man to one month in jail and imposed a fine of Tk 5,000 for selling dead cow meat. The court session was conducted by Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Nazmul Hasan from the Tangail District Administration.
The story unfolds when a male cow died in the Beradoma area, and the owner left the carcass unattended overnight. The next morning, three men skinned the cow and transported the meat by rickshaw to the local market for sale.
According to Mohammad Asaduzzaman Rumel, Deputy Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, upon receiving a tip-off, they quickly arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, the meat seller, Dilur Mia, fled the location. The authorities seized the dead cow meat and apprehended the two suspects.
Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Nazmul Hasan then sentenced Anwar, the son of Nuru Mia, to one month in jail and fined him Tk 5,000.
Veterinary doctor Md. Shahin Alam, Secretary of the Tangail branch of the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Abu Zubair Ujjal, District Sanitary Inspector Md. Nazirul Islam, and Butcher Inspector Sohel Rana were present during the operation.
