Ukhiya, Feb 27, (V7N) – A Rohingya woman was arrested by Ukhiya police in Cox’s Bazar with 49 counterfeit thousand-taka notes. The woman, identified as 41-year-old Rabeya Begum, wife of Nurul Hakim from the Kutupalong refugee camp, was apprehended during a transaction of fake currency at the Kutupalong market in the early hours of Thursday, February 27.
According to Ukhiya police's duty officer, after extensive questioning, the arrested woman admitted her involvement in a counterfeit money racket. Based on her statements, a case has been filed against her and several unidentified accomplices under relevant laws at Ukhiya police station.
Ukhiya's Officer-in-Charge, O.C. Arif Hossain, confirmed the incident and assured that police forces are working to maintain law and order in the area ahead of the upcoming Ramadan.
