The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection raided a contaminated Semai factory in Khulna and produced counterfeit ice cream.
At the time, Bhuiyan Food Company was fined 20,000 taka for creating semai in an unhygienic and filthy atmosphere, while Saju, the proprietor of an ice cream plant, was fined 30,000 taka for manufacturing and distributing bogus robot lollies. This procedure was completed in the afternoon on Sunday.
According to Muhammad Salim, Deputy Director of the Khulna Divisional Office of Consumer Rights, unsafe and illicit components are being used in the production of phoney Robo lollies. 500 packages of phoney Robo ice cream were confiscated at this point. Furthermore, semai manufacturers that produce semai on the floor in an unclean atmosphere are subject to fines.
