Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) have conducted a successful operation, apprehending four individuals in Dhaka's Hatirjheel area on Tuesday night. The suspects were found in possession of counterfeit cobra snake venom, foreign firearms, and equipment utilized for fraudulent activities, with an estimated value of Tk60 crore.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Enamul Haque (54), Safiqul Islam (54), Ershad Ali (36), and Syed Mohammad Ibrahim Khalilullah (34). Alongside the suspects, law enforcement seized a private car, a foreign pistol with ammunition, a toy pistol, counterfeit snake venom weighing 10 kg, an album, two CDs, cash amounting to Tk36,235, and 360 Indian rupees.

According to MJ Sohel, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-4, the fraudsters utilized specialized glass containers to store the fake snake venom, labeled with names and codes from different countries. The venom was sourced from various locations within Bangladesh and smuggled into the country from foreign territories. The group engaged in fraudulent activities, deceiving both domestic and international pharmaceutical companies and exporting the counterfeit venom to neighboring countries.

The counterfeit snake venom was confirmed to be fake by forensic experts at RAB headquarters. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to collecting the counterfeit venom from different regions of Bangladesh and selling it fraudulently to individuals in Hatirjheel and other areas of the capital. The gang was involved in fraudulent schemes to extort money from unsuspecting victims.

The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the relevant police station for further legal proceedings. RAB continues its efforts to crack down on organized crime and fraudulent activities across the country.
