In a case involving the fabrication of a fake death certificate through fraudulent means, Milton Samaddar, the founder of the charity organization "Child and Old Age Care," has been granted a three-day remand by a Dhaka court.

The order was issued by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain following a hearing on Thursday afternoon.

The investigating officer of the case, Sub Inspector (SI) Mohammad Kamal Hossain from the Mirpur zonal team Detective Branch (DB), presented the accused in court and sought a seven-day remand.

However, Milton's legal representatives applied for bail to annul the remand. The state contested the bail and advocated for a remand hearing. Subsequently, after considering both arguments, the court granted Milton Samaddar a three-day remand.

Earlier on Thursday, Milton appeared in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, where police brought him for a case filed at Mirpur Model Police Station. Subsequently, he was held in custody at the Dhaka CMM court jail. The accused was escorted to court at approximately 3:30 pm.

Milton Samadder was apprehended by a team from the DB in Mirpur, Dhaka, on Wednesday, around 7:30 pm.

Fraud allegations against Milton Samaddar surfaced in a national daily on April 25, triggering a series of accusations. It was reported that over 16 mobile banking numbers and three bank accounts received approximately Tk10,00,000 monthly.

Furthermore, numerous direct donations were made to his institution, with allegations of misappropriation of these funds. Accusations also pointed towards the illicit trade of human organs, specifically involving the harvesting and sale of kidneys.

These revelations sparked widespread public outcry and extensive discussions on social media platforms, culminating in Samadder's detention.

Despite his previous recognition with three national awards for humanitarian work, Milton Samaddar now faces legal proceedings concerning the alleged fraudulent activities.
