Rangamati June 11,(V7N)- Despite a murder case being filed, the identity of the decapitated body discovered by Kotwali police in Rangamati remains unknown. On April 19, police found a decomposed, headless body in the deep forest of Kamillachhari, Bangchhari area in Ward 4 of Mogban Union, Rangamati Sadar Upazila. The head was found hanging from a tree.
 
Shahed Parvez, the investigation officer at Kotwali Police Station, stated, “We retrieved the body based on information from locals. The headless body is that of a man and was in a severely decomposed state. He was wearing pants secured with a belt and had a black-strapped wristwatch on his left hand.”
 
According to police, a chocolate-colored bag, a strip of Rivotril Clonazepam, an empty Fruitica bottle, a steel knife, an unbound white notebook, a white rope, a pair of size 43 chocolate-colored lace-up shoes, and a 41-foot long green rope were found at the scene.
 
 
The case report mentioned that initial questioning of locals and circumstantial evidence suggested that the unidentified male, approximately 35 years old, had been murdered about a month prior. Investigators believe the incident is a case of murder based on local inquiries.
 
On April 20, 2024, a murder case was filed at Kotwali Police Station under sections 302/34 of the Penal Code, with the case number-13.
 
Shahed Parvez, the investigation officer, stated, “The body was severely decomposed when found. We have sent it for DNA testing and are hopeful for more detailed information once the DNA profile and report are received. We are continuing efforts to identify the deceased through various means. Additionally, we urge anyone with missing relatives to contact Rangamati Kotwali Police Station.
