Ukhiya, Sep 01 (V7N) - In a recent operation in the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, the 14th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has apprehended Nabi Hossain, the leader of the terrorist group known as the Nabi Hossain Group from Myanmar, along with his brother. During the raid, which took place at around 10 PM on Saturday, authorities seized two foreign pistols and eight rounds of ammunition.
 
The raid was conducted early on Saturday morning (August 31) in Block B, Sub-Block I/14 of Camp 8 West in the Palongkhali Union of Ukhiya.
 
The arrested individuals are Nabi Hossain (47) and his brother Syed Hossain, also known as Bulu (45). They reside in Block B-41 of the Balukhali Rohingya Camp. Iqbal, the Additional DIG and Commander of the 14th APBn, confirmed the details of the arrest. Nabi Hossain, who had been evading capture for a long time, was finally apprehended.
 
Nabi Hossain is identified as the leader of the Nabi Hossain Group, a terrorist organization based in Myanmar. He is also notorious for his role as a major trafficker of the drug yaba from Myanmar into Bangladesh. He commands an armed group within the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf, engaging in activities such as murder, kidnapping, and yaba smuggling. In February 2022, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) had announced a reward of 10 lakh taka for information leading to his arrest.
 
According to the APBn, Nabi Hossain faces two criminal cases at the Ukhiya Police Station.
 
Attempts to obtain a statement from Ukhiya Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Shamim Hossain, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls.
