Ukhiya, Sep 05 (V7N) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered 1 kilogram of crystal meth ice valued at 5 crore taka during an operation at the Morichya Joint Checkpost in Ukhiya. No arrests were made in connection with the seizure.
 
The operation occurred around 9:30 PM on Wednesday, September 4, near Gorosthan Road, south of Dhurummokhali Bridge in Haldia Palong Union, Ukhiya.
 
The details of the operation were disclosed in a press release signed by BGB's Public Relations Officer, Shariful Islam, on Thursday afternoon.
 
Lieutenant Colonel Syed Wahiduzzaman Tanjid, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 30, confirmed the details of the operation. He stated that BGB's field operations and intelligence efforts are ongoing as part of their 'Zero Tolerance' policy against drug trafficking. During this particular operation, a special patrol team from the Morichya Joint Checkpost signaled a suspicious auto-rickshaw to stop. The passenger of the auto-rickshaw abandoned a bag and fled the scene. The abandoned bag was subsequently searched, leading to the discovery of 1 kilogram of crystal meth ice, valued at 5 crore taka.
 
The seized crystal meth has been transferred to the battalion headquarters for proper destruction in accordance with regulations.
