Dhaka, Sep 13 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3) has arrested Liton Akand and two associates in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area for their alleged involvement in violent attacks on students and the public during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The arrests were made early this morning at approximately 2:00 AM, according to ASP Imran Khan from the RAB Headquarters Media Wing.
 
A viral video showed Liton wielding a machete and attacking protesters, prompting RAB to increase surveillance and pursue him and his accomplices. During the raid on Liton’s hideout, RAB-3 recovered four machetes believed to have been used in the attacks, as well as illegal drugs and a quantity of gunpowder.
 
Liton Akand faces multiple charges, including three related to the violence in Jatrabari, three under the Drug Control Act, one for preparation for robbery, and an additional case. Authorities have also disclosed that Liton was involved in extortion and subjected individuals who resisted to various forms of torture.
