Barguna, Sep 26 (V7N)- An awareness exchange meeting focused on the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 was held on Thursday in the Golden Jubilee conference room of the Barguna District Commissioner's office. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about their consumer rights and promote their active participation in spreading this knowledge.

Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Director of the Complaints and Investigation Department of the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, attended the meeting as the chief guest and presented the keynote address. The event was presided over by Barguna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shafiul Alam and saw the participation of key figures including Civil Surgeon Dr. Pradip Chandra Mandal, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mozammel Hossain, and Md. Zahurul Islam Howladar.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Subhra Das, Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in Barguna, Vipul Biswas, and media representatives from Barisal were also present. Former President of Barguna Press Club Zakir Hossain Miraj and General Secretary Zafar Hossain Howladar addressed the attendees, particularly focusing on the students from various educational institutions.

Speakers emphasized the positive changes observed among traders and consumers through the Directorate's nationwide program. They highlighted the vital role that young students play in spreading awareness about consumer rights, noting that their involvement is essential for ensuring transparency and fairness in both physical and digital marketplaces.

Participants were urged to remain vigilant against unfair practices, such as inflated prices, expired goods, or adulterated products, and to take action if they encounter such issues. The meeting called for increased attention to preventing deception through marketing strategies, particularly in the digital age, and underscored the importance of student awareness in creating a more consumer-conscious society.
