Moulvibazar, Oct 01 (V7N) – In the Sreemangal area of Moulvibazar, Ram Sing Garr is believed to be 119 years old, according to his national ID card, potentially making him the oldest person alive. Ram, who resides in the isolated Mekani Chhara village near the Tripura border, lives with his children and grandchildren.

Currently, the Guinness World Records lists the oldest living man as 112-year-old John Tinniswood, from Britain. The Sreemangal administration is now considering applying to the Guinness World Records to officially recognize Ram’s age once the necessary details are confirmed.

Located around 40 kilometers from Sreemangal, Ram’s village is relatively remote. Despite his advanced age, he can still move about independently, perform minor tasks at home, and read without glasses.

Ram’s family has roots in Jabalpur, India, and migrated to Bangladesh around two centuries ago to work on tea plantations. Ram recalls many historical events, including both World Wars and the partition of India, with remarkable clarity.

Local authorities are now gathering the required documents to verify Ram’s age and apply to the Guinness World Records.
